About
Hi!
My name is Shayne Bingham. I've been doing digital illustration and design since 1992. My employer at the time, Video Mark Productions, bought me a Macintosh Iici and said, "Here Shayne, learn it. It has a program called Adobe Photoshop and another one called Adobe Illustrator on it, good luck!" Umm, ok, so the first drag of the gradient tool and I was hooked. Up to that point, Aldus Pagemaker was the layout tool of choice, so upward and onward.
Knowing that my career in video editing would be short-lived, I moved on to a company called Ideal Learning. They specialized in interactive educational software programs for grade schools. I gained a lot of experience there, mainly how to draw only with a mouse, as they did not use Wacom Tablets! At Big Hand Productions thankfully, they did use tablets. The design team was spectacular, and I worked on CD-ROM and CD-i projects creating illustrations and animations for GE Capital, Acer Computers, as well as our own custom titles like Princess and the Yucky Worm, Screen Gear and Snaps. Then one day, the internet happened.
I started doing web design Eagle River Interactive(later called AGENCY.COM), working on web projects for Fortune 500 companies like Ford, Intel, Sharp Electronics, Allstate Insurance and more. Ah yes, the internet. When we moved from Shockwave based animations to Flash, it made everyone's life better. Business was good and there were Dot-coms popping up everywhere. Job security! And then...boom went the dynamite, the Dot-com collapse.
Hello Gaming! Octopi was a small web design studio in Dallas, Tx, that held on through most of the Dot-com swoon, but it decided to branch out into mobile gaming and Advergames. Advergames were small online Shockwave and Flash games with sponsors like Pepsi, Hooters, etc. that let companies create brand awareness with the players of the games through logo placement in the interface. The online browser based game market had really taken off, so while at GSN, I worked on social media based games and cash games, puzzles, and word games like Wheel of Fortune, Scrabble, CLUE and many others.
When I joined Kihon Games, I worked with the team of programmers and artists that were originally with Octopi. Dojo Danger, Baby Monkey and Conquest of Champions are some of the studios recent efforts. Conquest is due to release soon and looks to be a worthy successor to Poxnora.
I live in Dallas, Texas. I love music, sports, movies, family, my dog Jake, and chocolate milk. Thanks so much for stopping by.
